Book and Media Blowout Sale - Starts 6/2

We have a date for our next Book Blowout Sale AND we're including other media! As before, bulk books (including some comics) will be 40 cents per pound, plus records and VHS tapes for $1 each and DVDs for $2 each.
The sale will start on Saturday, June 2, when we'll be open special hours 10am-5pm for Be a Tourist in Your Own Town, and it will continue Tuesday, June 5 during regular Public Sale hours, 7:30am-5:30pm.
Also a reminder: Michigan State University will be closed on Monday, May 28 for Memorial Day, but we will be open our normal hours on Tuesday, May 29.

Community Reuse Days

It’s Spring Cleaning time, and we're giving the entire MSU community a green option for getting rid of unwanted items.

April 16-21, the week leading up to Earth Day, will be our next biannual Community Reuse Days event, where all reusable items will be accepted from MSU faculty, staff, students, alumni, and retirees.

Confidential document shredding and e-waste recycling--the safe disposal of any electronic item--are FREE during Community Reuse Days. However, it should be noted that the event is for individuals, not businesses.

Typical goods include sporting equipment and apparel, non-upholstered furniture, electronics, appliances, media, knick knacks, and a wide assortment of other objects. Items received at the event will be recycled, resold, or donated to a non-profit organization. As with everything collected by the MSU Surplus Store & Recycling Center, sending material to the landfill is always a last resort.

Proceeds from re-sellable items will support our continuing increase of materials collected from campus and the community. The MSU Recycling Drop-off Center now accepts all colors of glass, and we hope to have solutions for recycling polystyrene (Styrofoam) and alkaline batteries in the future.

Donations will be accepted at the north dock of the MSU Surplus Store & Recycling Center from 7:00am to 3:00pm from Monday, April 16th through Friday, April 20th, as well as 9:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday, April 21st. Call (517) 355-1723 for more details.

It's Spring Gardening Time!

Which means it's time to stock up on compost!

Cured Compost is $30 per yard, $15 per half yard: Good for covering large areas in one load

Pelletized Compost - $20 per 20 lbs. bag, $12.50 per (approx. 6-7 lbs.) reusable container: Good for smaller areas, easy handling and storage. Pellet shape allows slow release of nutrients over time.

March Madness Book Blowout Sale

We are having our next Book Blowout sale the last week of March!

Get thousands of books, sorted into over a dozen different genres and categories, for 40 cents per pound, with no limit to how many or few you can purchase.

It's up to you to find the gems and rarities, so get here early!

11/29 and 12/2: This month's Book Blowout Sale will feature a fresh selection of bulk books. Next week will be your only chance to get these books before they’re recycled, and then we’ll have another fresh batch available next month. Get them while you can! 40 cents per pound, no limit.
